Gabriela Tylesova is an award winning, internationally acclaimed designer working across the full spectrum of the arts, designing sets, costumes, concepts and animation for opera, theatre, large-scale events, dance and film.

Gabriela has designed productions across Australia, Europe, the USA, Canada, and Asia, receiving multiple major awards. These include Helpmann Awards for Best Set Design (2009, 2011, 2014) and Best Costume Design (2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019); Green Room Awards for Best Set Design (2003, 2011) and Best Costume Design (2002, 2006, 2011); APDG Awards for Best Set and Costume Design (2012, 2014, 2016); and Sydney Theatre Awards for Design (2012, 2013). Her work has been exhibited internationally, including Costume at the Turn of the Century in Moscow (2015) and the Prague Quadrennial (1999, 2015).

Career highlights include LOVE NEVER DIES (Australia, USA, Japan, China, Europe), THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, SWAN LAKE for The National Ballet of Canada and Finnish National Ballet, THE NUTCRACKER for Hong Kong Ballet, SCHEHERAZADE and SLEEPING BEAUTY for The Australian Ballet, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CINDERELLA (UK, Broadway), FIRST WIVES CLUB (Broadway). Gabriela’s Opera Australia credits include COSI FAN TUTTE, SWEENEY TODD, L'ELISIR D'AMORE, DIDO AND AENEAS, ACIS AND GALATEA, SALOME, IL TURKO IN ITALIA, and THE RABBITS. CYRANO DE BERGERAC, THE VISIT, THE PILLOWMAN, URINETOWN, TOMFOOLERY, MACBETH, FIREFACE, ATTEMPTS ON HER LIFE, VOLPONE, THIS LITTLE PIGGY, ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDERNSTERN ARE DEAD, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE for Sydney Theatre Comoany.
